Today its been one month since I got my liver transplant. Since I got my 2nd chance at life. One month since I have become a different person. One month since I have found out I can love someone I have never met. One month since Dr. Ford walked into my room looking like he just woke up and asked If i am ready. One month since my wife got a phone call from me stating this rollercoaster is about to go so hang on. One month since I met some of the best surgeons in the world , same with the nurses. One Month since I am no longer yellow. One month since I had kidney failure. Most of all one month that my donor and God worked together to save my life. God is awsome and amazing , and the family that donated the liver to save my life are angels . Its been a little less than a month since I moved into the mason guest house and met some really strong people who were going thru the same thing I have been going thru.

Guess what everyone its National Handwashing Awareness Week 2010 !!!!
In the past before my liver transplant I would wash my hands and so forth but I was not the OCD person I am now. Since my transplant I carry around hand sanitizer gel and I am always washing my hands at home. So lets take time today and pass this information on to everyone. Washing our hands will not only help those who are Immunosuppressant but it will help those whoe are not as well.. The more people who know about this the better.

Before I had my transplant my nights and days flipped. I wanted to sleep during the day and at night I could not sleep to save my life. Now after my transplant I cant sleep at all. I get tired and then I yawn but if i lay down I just stare at the walls. I think for the last week i get about a hour and a half to 2 hours of sleep. So far today in the last 24 hours I have slept a total of 30 mins. I do not understand what is going on. Anyway I just thought I would blog about it ..

This morning I woke up and my legs were screaming. I am not sure if I over did it yesterday with all the bulldogs at the Duluth English bulldog meet up or if something else is going on. After talking to a friend (shout out to Amy T) she told me that people with liver disease do lose muscle mass sometimes. Well guess what my legs and arms are much smaller than they used to be. In fact I should have noticed this back in october but due to all the ammonia in my system I guess I just did not. I have found out that if i crouch down I better have someone who can spot me as i get back up or I am not going to make it .. Same thing with climbing more than 5 or 6 stairs , I get to the top and i just cant go any farther. When it comes to walking I have no problem. Its just something where i have to push up with my legs. I will make sure to talk to my doc about this on weds.
In other news The blog is coming right along , I got some more work I need to do like find a good graphic so if anyone reading this does graphics please drop me a line.
Later I am going to add a blog about ammonia and the evils of liver disease how it can affect you without you knowing ..

When I first got told I was going to be listed the world slowed down. I could hear every word the surgeon was telling me during my meet the staff meeting as i like to call it. During this meeting I met everyone from the surgeon to the social workers in charge of insurance to the social worker who had to decide if i was mentally ok to the person in charge of helping me eat healthy to pretty much anyone you can think of. Then it started they scheduled a ton of test for me to do , snapped a picture of me and said once the test are back we will put your name in front of the group and we will basically vote on if you should be listed .. Since i smoked at the time ( now stopped since march 1 2010) I didnt think i would be listed, A week later i was told I am listed and to stop smoking and lose some weight. Then every 3 months i went back for blood work and to see the doctor in charge of my care. Slowly my meld score went up and the frequency of my doctor appointments went up as well , first 2x in 3 months , then every month , then at the end it was about to turn into 2x a month ..
